Brought my minecraft Server home from College, now it won't work
EDIT: SOLVED. The server was shut down by a power outage and thus the world file became corrupted. Using the backup solved the problem. I am an idiot. Thanks for everyone's comments.

As the title implies, I have a Minecraft server running on a computer and I brought that home with me from college for winter break. It's small with 8GB of ram for my friends and I. Also, I had this server port forwarded so more people could play. After bringing the computer home, the server no longer starts and errors out with this message upon starting:
UPDATE: PASTEBIN LINK of Console https://pastebin.com/xTmppTjk
Latest.log https://pastebin.com/1X1vXxtq

https://preview.redd.it/kt1h4qjdc4161.png?width=1888&format=png&auto=webp&s=2cd20eae33305733b5b1dc26cf13f4367089df08
Additionally, this server is a modded FTB Infinity Evolved Server running 1.7.10
I changed the serverIP in server.properties to match the internal IP given to this machine with no luck. I haven't attempted port forwarding on my home network yet.
And yes, I understand that this is an incredibly stupid setup with a modded server on windows on a personal network and machine. I'd appreciate it if you could move past that and help me diagnose what's going on. My friends are getting antsy.

Top-flight, 0 league titles club: 2020-21 edition

The title should be pretty self-explanatory. I literally nothing else to do. A long time ago I made a similar post but it wasn't updated and it wasn't as comprehensive. I tried to include far more leagues this time but I know I still missed some, sorry!
Feel free to correct me where I'm wrong; I do not claim this list to be 100% accurate especially because for some smaller leagues the data was not as reliable (missing, incorrect, club name irregularities).

Which automotive engineers/designers do you respect and admire?

I do not know if this was ever discussed on here before, but I thought it might be fun. With the recent passing of Hans Mezger, it got me curious.
Personally, some of those I respect include Lee Iacocca, Bruno Sacco, Chris Bangle BMW (lot of people hate/hated him?), Mike Sweers (US Toyota body-on-frame trucks, people hate him too?), Dieter Zetsche, Al Oppenheim (GM). But I respect these two below the most.
Kazutoshi Mizuno of Nissan. I am not a fan of modern Nissan by any means, but Mizuno was one of the best talent Nissan ever had and one that any other manufacturers covet. In fact, Hyundai before they hired ex-BMW M people for their racing and N division they wanted Mizuno to lead (because he retired from Nissan) and help establish their sports brand, which he declined and now is an auto journalist in Japan. He joined Nissan in the 70s right out of high school and worked in the group C racing car and was bit of a racing driver himself. He was the engineer that helped develop most of the RWD Nissan we come to love and appreciate from the golden era, like Silvia. Although some of the product that he led like V35 was questionable, he created wonderful machines even in modern days like Nissan Fuga, Cima, V36, Infiniti FX, EX, V34/V33, and of course the R35 GTR. Yes you might say Nissan looks ugly or dull and technology is unquestionably old, but from pure mechanical stand point which was his expertise, his RWD development is a good success. Like people complain about direct adaptive steering or no mechanical brakes on V37 just get the regular steering and its pretty tight. Of course don't forget R35 GTR Nismo did 7:08 on nurburbring which still is one of if not the fastest front engine production car in the world on a technology from the 2000s and in a car with a weight of around 1700kg. Mizuno was so talented that the criminal Carlos Ghosn just let him do whatever and was apparently the only one in the Nissan Ghosn respected. Nissan RWD are kind of underrated hidden gem.
Also Mizuno is quite a savage guy. This guy literally "dismantled" BMW i8 and F30 340i unlike most other auto journalist who praised the two. But since he was an engineer, every explanation and opinion is from the engineering perspective, so I find it quite interesting to hear from "the father of GTR". I have been following his commentary for a bit, and no, he is not anti-German; he calls out flaws in all cars whereever he sees, German, Japanese or otherwise He called out best-selling luxury SUV Lexus RX too. (Links below, but its all in Japanese)

2)Peter Schreyer of Hyundai. I mean he was already pretty well known even back in his Germany days. Hyundai before hiring him, literally were producing shit horrible cars and other Korean automaker like Sssayong (who doesn't have money or political power of Hyundai conglomerate) or whatever continues to produce subpar cars to this day. But ever since Hyundai hired him, their cars got more attractive looking and everything. I mean this guy paid dividends for Hyundai. Without him, Hyundai won't be where they are today. This guy is touted as savior or messiah by many Korean car enthusiasts, essentially saving their auto industry. He was recently appointed the only non-Korean board member too. I am not a fan of Hyundai as a company because of monopolistic chaebol conglomerate, but what this guy did is pretty remarkable.

As a result of online school, I've finally had time to pursue my passion for game development and my first game is coming to Steam! RoboSkate is a silly yet difficult physics based game, where you master the controls of a robotic arm attached to a skateboard and overcome a challenging journey.

Type me please! INFP vs INTP (with Youtube vids)

Hi everyone!
Long post I know, I've tried to format it to make it digestible! I used the recommended questions in the pined post.

I've been hesitating for a long time between those two types. I believed I was an INFP, but after some people suggested INTP, and after digging more into it, I think I'm more of an INTP. I could use your opinions!
I've taken a whole lot of tests, it's oscillating between INTP and INFP, but I think I'm biased. I've also researched a lot the cognitive functions. Fi and Ti especially.
Here is my youtube channel to help you see me talking, moving, etc. And yes it's mostly about INFP content ahah.. So I need to make up my mind before going on!
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwvf54uPTspbjnTBgheMU2w

It can be boring to read everything, but if you want more information about myself, you can check the following sections:
• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.
I'm 29yo, male. See my channel for more.

• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?
I did not have any religious upbringing, and I never believed in any gods, at least not a god who would be watching us from above. It didn't make sense for me, and I always have a more scientific view. Lately though, I'm well into spirituality, after reading books such as "the power of now". I do believe there is a greater intelligence, force.

• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not?
Okay, this is where it's a bumpy road lol.
I was very good at school, good grades, loved maths, physics, sciences. I was good in languages, not so much in philosophy, essays and all. I was average in those, because they didn't interest me that much.
After high school I did a prep school and then an engineer school, and I became a mechanical engineer. Again, I did very well in engineering school, not so much in prep school because the level was very high.
I worked for 3 years as a mechanical engineer, but soon I was so tired and bored. Main reasons being working for a boss who treated people like shit, working for an oil & gas company, so for something that I despised. So I was not feeling useful, I had no meaning. I had a good salary, but I was miserable.
I decided then to quit my job, and went travelling in New Zealand for a year. It was awesome. I really enjoy the freedom, the nature, and helping people with simple tasks, simple life. While I was over there, I started to learn code again (I already started when I was in high school, really enjoyed it), and started to consider switching career and work in computer science. I've always been very good with computers and most of the time people ask me when they have issues.
When the travel year was over, I had to return to my home country (France) and decide what to do. I didn't want to go back in a corporate world. The last experience was too much.
So I tried to build my own online business, with affiliate marketing, to help people change their lives for the better, live a more meaningful life etc..
It was not for me. But I realized I liked personal development, and helping people by sharing what I discovered. I found a hypnotherapy training online, with Marisa Peer, and I enrolled.
I really loved learning about it. But, 5 months later, after several practice sessions, something kicked in : I realized I didn't like that much helping people one on one. Most of the time, hearing about people's problems would bore me, make me uncomfortable. Even on one session where I helped the other person a lot, I didn't feel that much satisfaction.
So I questioned myself a lot, and today, I'm ready to go back to work as an engineer, but with computers. I want to be a software engineer. I realized I needed the logic/analytic part AND the people/help part. The way I see it, I'll be able to work on meaningful projects, while satisfying my thirst for tech and reflection. And yes I really like coding, computers and tech.

• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
I really don't mind being alone, I even tend to lose track of time, getting immersed in new ideas to explore. Sometimes when I find a good book about the current subject I'm studying, I can read it in 2 days and forget everything else. But after a while, I feel the need to reconnect with my friends.

What about people?
I enjoy being around people, but not for too long. I need time alone. I don't like small talk, I usually don't make the first step to people I don't know. I'm an introvert but when I decide, I can really seem like an extrovert, being at the center of the attention, quite witty and outgoing.

• What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities?
My main activities are TV shows, video games, reading personal development books, fiction books. I also enjoy outdoor activities but I have to push myself to do them. I really enjoy adrenaline based activities and also nature so: motorcycling, hiking, walking, climbing. I also do a bit of fitness to stay fit.

• How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
I'm pretty curious, I tend to have lots of ideas, but sometimes I can see myself as not very creative. For example, when I was working as a mechanical engineer, I struggled with coming up with realistic solutions. But now I feel it was more because of a lack of confidence, and a belief that I was not in the field that mattered to me.
I usually start projects enthusiastically, but I struggle to finish them. I was seeking a lot "the perfect path", just to be disappointed when interest started to fade away. I'm more aware now that it's normal and that anything valuable will come with efforts at a certain point.

• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
I don't think so. Being assertive and managing people is not natural to me. If I was a leader, I would let people a lot of freedom, I like to make people feel good and I like to have a peaceful atmosphere. I struggle as soon as I have to deal with conflict, that's not my strength.

• Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity?
I feel pretty much coordinated. I enjoy working with my hands. I help my father in doing manual labors such as painting, fixing houses, gardening and all. I enjoy it because it focuses me on the present, and I'm often in the future, in my head.
I like it because I believe these are useful skills to have, but I find it not challenging enough, not stimulating enough. I feel like I would waste my potential if I were to do this as a career for example.
I also do the maintenance of my motorcycle and car myself, and quite enjoy it. Because I can say I have the skills and it makes me feel proud. But it's more simply practical for me. I will not do manual tasks in my freetime, for fun for example.

• Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
I'm somewhat artistic. I liked to draw when I was a kid and was decent at it. I still like it but I don't practice.
I'm sensible to art in heavy CGI films, I find it fascinating and amazing what they can do. For example, this trailer left me like "WOOOOW" : https://youtu.be/rKjUAWlbTJk
I'm also sensitive to art in video games, movies, and landscapes. But that's more about the emotions that are conveyed. I really enjoy video games for the experience and atmosphere they can bring. Life is strange or Bioshock Infinite are good examples.
I also like music, I play Guitar, I started 6 months ago.

• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
Past: I don't really dwell on it. I try to extract the lesson from it and move on. I like to recall good memories with friends though. I'm quite nostalgic sometimes.
Present: I'm not very aware of it. Always in my head. Starting meditation helped me a little.
Future: Kind of obsessed with it... Constantly thinking about the next goal, about what to do with my life, about the right path...

• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
In general, I think about different ways to solve the "problem"

• Do you need logical consistency in your life?
I struggle to define "logic", that's why I'm confused between INTP and INFP I guess, but after thinking about it yes I believe logical consistency is important for me. I'm trying to make sense of everything, I see the events of my life as pieces of a puzzle, and I try to make them fit all together.

• How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
I'm kind of a big procrastinator. So being productive for the sake of it doesn't really interest me.
But when I'm at it and when I decide to be productive, I feel like a machine, unstoppable.

• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
Not at all. It's really important that people let me be independent, I hate when they try to control me, I want to make up my own mind. So I try to do the same for others. I respect their ways and let them be.
The only times where I try to control people is when they're stepping over my boundaries and prevent me from doing something. But even then, most of the time I won't say anything and keep it inside.

• What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
Video games: escape, dreams, good moments with friends
Reading: learning, discovering, escape
Motorcycle: feel alive, present moment, escape (again ahah)
Coding: thinking, creating, exploring, infinite possibilities
Youtube channel: creating, sharing my experiences, helping people, community

• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
I prefer to go with the flow, no planning. Thinking about a planning is painful and is not my default mode. But I know that it's important sometimes, and when I decide to create a strategy, I think I'm pretty good at it.
For example: I can spend hours creating the perfect morning routine, stick with it for 1 week, and then going back to freestyle ahah

• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally?
Professionally: I want a career where I can have an impact, use creativity, work for something greater and bigger than me. I like it when I work with a team and that we're all on the same page, working towards a greater goal. I find it exhilarating. Ideally, I'd like to be my own boss one day, but having to organize myself, discipline myself is a downside as I don't know if I'll be able to do it.
Personally: I want to always be learning and growing, I just want to be able to enjoy life and be happy. Being able to travel from time to time would be the dream. Regarding a romantic partner, finding a girl who shares the same interests, curious, easy-going, open-minded, smart is my goal.

• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
Usually, I suffer from social anxiety, but it's gotten better lastly. I'm not very comfortable with new groups of people, and even with trusted friends, after a long time without seeing them, I might be awkward at first.
I think I'm afraid of being judged, seen as lazy or lost.
I think my biggest fear is feeling lost until the end of my life. Even though most of the time I feel hopeful, there are some dark times where I just want it to end.
I really struggle with dealing with emotions. I feel deeply but at the same time sometimes I'm not able to show empathy. For example the other day I've seen my mother crying and I didn't know what to say. I felt clumsy.
• What do the "highs" in your life look like?
Easy going, fun, clear mind. Most of the time coming from a sense of self-worth, being on the right path. Feeling like anything is possible. Balanced life between social, personal and professional.

• What do the "lows" in your life look like?
Being lost, being alone, don't know what to do, feeling misunderstood, feeling alone even surrounded by people. Can even lead to suicidal thoughts for a microsecond.

• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
I daydream a lot, but I'm not working full time at the moment, so I have a lot of free time. But usually, I'm not very aware of my surroundings. I have to make a conscious effort to be aware of my surroundings.

• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
I think I might meditate, and then reflect on what I can do in this situation. Why am I here? Is there a reason? Will a be able to get out?

• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
It's taking me quite a long time. And I change my mind a A LOT before going for it.

• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
As I said I struggle with emotions, they make me uncomfortable. For example, several of my previous girlfriends told me that I was like a robot because I didn't felt the same thing they did.
But on the other hand, sometimes I can get very emotional and cry in front of a movie or even commercial... ahah
I believed I was an INFP because I feel deeply sometimes, and I'm constantly checking how I feel, or at least I'm constantly aware when something is off. But I'm not really sure this means being Fi dominant.
Also, I can recall several times in my life where my feelings were so strong that I felt like following them was obvious (my first girlfriend, followed my feelings even though it was not the right thing to do. Last girlfriend, same: strong feelings but it ended 2 months later, and finally, the hypnotherapy training, where I was very excited at the beginning, "felt" it was the right thing, but it wasn't)

• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
Yes, sometimes. Especially when it's someone I don't know. I need to understand the other person first , before knowing how to react. For example if I think there is very little chance that the person will understand my point of view or that it can lead to a healthy debate, I won't even bother to disagree.

• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why?
I sometimes break rules when I believe they're absurd, or when these rules are trying to control me or tell me what to do, but they make no senses or are even stupid.

That's it! Thanks a lot really if you read until there! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this! Is there clear signs of what type I am?

Surface Pro X SSD Upgrade

I recently found a 512 GB Toshiba/Kioxia BG4 SSD for sale on ebay to replace the stock 256 GB Toshiba/Kioxia SSD in my SPX. If you need more drive space or want to save several hundred dollars by purchasing a lesser spec'd machine and upgrading the SSD I would highly recommend going this route. It was fairly easy and took less than an hour to exchange the SSD and boot back into Windows. I took a few pictures and added some comments.

Aks v dim-- (longer excerpt)

t ojnl tx s “Aks v dim-s” (a esa b Russell Conwell). Some view this essay as inspirational or motivational but others see it as materialistic and elitist. Either way, it’s one of the few longish texts that Dearborn converted into 1930 Speedwriting.
I’ve broken up a lot of the difficult shorthand phrases into single words or pairs of words; this makes it much easier to read.

Who was it that invented the mower and the reaper? According to Mr. McCormick's confidential communication, so recently published, it was a West Virginia woman who, after his father and he failed altogether in making a reaper and gave it up, took a lot of shears and nailed them together on the edge of a board with one shaft of each pair loose, and then wired them so that when she pulled the wire one way it closed them and when she pulled the wire the other way it opened them, and there she had the principle of the mowing machine.

My Suggested mods list

Hello all, I love the X games, have been playing them since X2. I am also a huge fan of mods, both making them and using them. I haven't had any time to start making X4 mods, nor do I know when I will but I have been keeping up with our already flourishing mod community, here is my preferred list of mods that add quality of life improvements, or just some basic tweaks that make sense to me. Feel free to use any of all of them, none of them rely on each other.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSRexcYrcpTn_zq8pEIXJokSe_bBYQWk3HjsElPlo29QZBF339HLThhzF-d22mV0UlTJkWNbJ5Iu0A3/pubhtml?gid=1113610429&single=true

Here are all of the mods in one download:

edit: be sure to check the spreadsheet fairly often, I am updating the archive as mods get updated, on the right side I keep a changelog as well.

edit2: some are saying that using too many satellites causes a performance issue. I have not had this issue however I have a fairly powerful machine, to compensate, I have tweaked things, normal satellites have a range of 350k and advanced have a range of 1000k if using advanced satellites you should not need more than one per sector, just plunk it in the middle. - This issue should now be resolved with the update to Advanced Satellites

Post Pull Depression - Lara Croft and the Temple of iOSiris.

Lara Croft and the Temple of iOSiris is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Lara Croft and the Guardian of the 20 hr Maintenance. Featuring stunning visuals and a brand-new error message, iOS players must work together to explore the downtime temple, defeat hordes of speculation from the Reddit underworld, make snarky comments, and avoid deadly boredom. All the while, Android players will play for treasure, powerful artifacts, and ultimate raid rank.
Hello and welcome to Post Pull Depression, the only thread that’s probably actually seen Womb Raider!
Our voices have been heard! No one started FFBE for the Final Fantasy characters. We all started playing because FF is owned by Square Enix which also picked up all the Eidos properties. No longer do we have to suffer with crappy Cloud, bad Bartz and terrible Terra. The era of great Eidos IPs are upon us: Deus Ex, Hitman and of course Tomb Raider. Woooo! Mediocre late 90’s franchises here we come! During the last 30 glorious years these series have produced at least 5 decent games, and 0 good movies! That’s pretty impressive in its own way!
Along with Lara we are getting a full banner of Tomb Raider characters! Wait, isn’t that just Abel, Soleil and Aileen? Why didn’t they go and pull from the rich roster of storied Tomb Raider characters? There’s… holy fuck. I can’t think of a second Tomb Raider character… at all. I’ve played a good handful of TRs, some old and some new, but even looking at a list of them I’m drawing a blank. So good call reskinning FFBE characters! Let’s take a look!

Oh My God Abel

God: Yes
Are you a god?
Uhh..
Job: God
Yes! Good job, Ray! You finally learned! Wait! It’s Pharaoh Abel. Not God Abel. Did the ancient Egyptians worship Pharaohs as gods? Maybe I’ll just google this quick…
Were Pharaohs…
black?
Goddammit google… I’ll take the second autosuggestion please.
Were Pharaohs…
gods?
Yes. That one.
Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs were the ancient kings of Egypt. Pharaohs were considered one of the more important of all the Egyptian gods. While a pharaoh was ruling, he took on the "incarnation" of the god Horus and the son of Re. Once the pharaoh died, he was identified with the god Osiris, the god of the underworld.
Right… but were they black?
TMR: PoP
Power of the Sands - Increase ATK and SPR (15%), Decrease chance of being targeted
Come back when it can rewind time and then I’ll be excited about it.

Regret: VERY HIGH

To the Skies - Physical damage (3.5x) with jump delay (2 turns) to one enemy
Yes, to the skies Pharoah! And don’t bother coming back! All 31 of you I pulled can fuck right off!

D.Soleil

Soleil: ===D
I keep reading about D Soleil, did my wish come true did they finally give her a...
Divine Soleil
Oh... nevermind.
Lila: Lite
Dance of Grievance - Magic damage (3x) using SPR scaling to one enemy Increase SPR (200%) for 2 turns to caster
Woah! SPR scaling! Wasn’t there some awesome unit in JP that was way OP with SPR scaling? Lira, Rila, Rira, Lila? Soleil must be just as good right?
LaLiLuLeLo’s Move - 1000% ST 14 Hit Magic (Phys) Attack w/ 100% of SPR as MAG
Oh… yeah Soleil can’t do that...
Re: Raise
Ankh - Auto-revive (80% HP) for 3 turns to one ally
Finally, a source of re-raise for all you without Ayaka! Or Rem… or Meliadoul… or Vanille… or WWF… or CG Fina next week… or see below DS’s TMR...
TMR: ANKH
Ankh of Goddess - DEF+3, HP +15%, SPR +15% Auto-Revive 30% HP for 2 turns
A really good source of re-raise for tanks etc… if you’re a terrorist.
An amulet based on the symbol of a goddess. In a faraway land, the goddess Isis
Pull for D.Soleil and farm her TMR if you want to support ISIS. You piece of shit, you.

Regret: MEDIUM

At first I was a little upset that her mit skill was split between separate phys/mag moves. But this way it stacks much easier with the more common full mit skills. You should definitely pick one up just in case! A perfect time to use all those 4* tickets you got in the raid summon! Everyone got at least 5-6 of them right?

Explorer One Legged Woman

Bio: Lazy
A machine engineer from Dilmagia who specializes in weaponry. Aileen develops weapons of a smaller, more personal scale than those mounted on the airships constructed in her hometown. Currently, she travels across the world polishing her skills in combat and claims that there is a weapon for everyone.
Well first of all, I don’t think there is a weapon for everyone. I am against arming toddlers, they are dangerous enough as is. But isn’t that exactly the same as normal Aileen’s bio? I’ll save you the trouble of looking it up; it is. All the collab characters have the same bio. Same with the Halloween ones! Apparently only Valentine’s Day units got different bios! SAD!
Anal: ysis
Analysis - Increase ATK (30%) Increase physical damage against mechanical and stone monsters (50%)
ANALysis hee hee hee.
TNT: Dynamite!
TNT - Fire physical damage (2x) to all enemies Increase LB gauge (6-12)
Memelord already did this joke, but fuck it! Oi! Oi! Oi! Oi!
For those of you with bad taste in music, here’s Come on Eileen.
TMR: TMR
Tomb Raider: 20% HP, 50% TDH, 25% Counter, 25% Accuracy, 2 LB, and 1 Partridge in a Pear Tree
Hmm… I am not impressed. Is this all? It doesn’t let me quad-wield or give me eternal re-raise? If BS:EL and FFT could do it then I don’t know why this TMR can’t. Well I guess since I still have no TDH I suppose I’ll farm it… if I actually pull her…

Regret: LOW-MEDIUM

E.Aileen (not eAileen) is a tough recommendation. She can chain with eAileen and E.Aileen but we know nothing about eE.Aileen. I’m a sucker for single 5* banners though, and since I’m Ayaka-privileged I don’t need CG Fina, so I’m going for her!
Update: 70 tickets, 25k lapis and 6 off banner rainbows… no Ex Aileen… but still 6 good rainbows!

Lara Croft

Writing: Elementary
Shit guys. I need some help here. I accidentally mixed up the in game bio for Lara Croft and a homework assignment I did in 2nd grade when I wrote about one of my heroes. Can you help me determine which is which?
Lara is English, a Countess, and driven by a need to uncover ancient items that feed her desire for knowledge. Her wealthy background and numerous successful adventures give her endless financial resources. Lara's use of her dual pistols whilst performing acrobatic moves is a key part of her identity. She is a trained sharp shooter.
Or…
Lara is super strong and shoots guns and jumps around and that is why I like her. She goes on adventures to find treasure and shoot bad guys. She has lots of money and is really cool. She is good with guns and very heroic.
Shit. I still can’t tell… Are those even different?
Mass: Murderer
Apex Predator - Increase physical damage against beasts, birds, humans, and insects (25%)
Only 25% against humans? Do you know how many people she’s killed? She could fit in just fine in a Musou game. I’m fairly certain only Nathan Drake has her beat, but he doesn’t count since anyone who can kill hundreds of people and then glibly quips every other scene is a fucking psychopath.
QTE: DED
One Life to Live - Chance to ignore fatal damage (60%) when HP is above 30% (max 1 time)
Well thank god for continues, between the shitty jumping/climbing of the earlier games and the torture porn QTEs of the latter, one life to live would not get you very far at all...
*TMR: 777
Croft's Intuition - Increase HP/MP/ATK/DEF (10%) Increase resistance to all elements (7%)
I’m sorry, my OCD will not allow me to have elemental resistances that all in end in 7. Do they not know their player base? Can you imagine the shit that would go down if they all gave us 7 lapis? We’d quit the game!

Regret: NONE

She’s free! What’s to regret? If you do want to regret something just play most the Tomb Raider games! They aren’t good! Here’s my list of good Tomb Raider games:
4 out of 18 ain’t bad!

Post Pull Depression

I had originally titled this PPD Lara Croft and the Fountain of Lapis, which actually sounds pretty cool, but due to recent events everyone has pretty much forgotten all about it! I will never forgive you Apple for making me change the title. I hereby vow to never buy an Apple product! You just lost a whole zero sales from me, Apple! I hope you learned your lesson!
Don’t forget to check out ET’s full banner review. And ol Meme’s in-depth ExAileen’s review. I will just go ahead and unsave that last link since I’m not getting ExAileen. And he just posted a D.Soleil one as well! A little later and he could have linked to me instead!
And now I’ll leave you with--
Why defy your fate?
Oh fuck me. Necron? AGAIN!? This isn’t even an FF9 banner. Hell, it isn’t even an FF banner! It’s the Tomb Raider Collab!
Is the will to live that powerful...?
Well not after failing to pull Ex Aileen...
This is not the end. I am eternal... ...as long as there is life and death...
...there will be Post Pull Depression! See ya next banner!

It's always an Arisaka.

As many of you may know, I pretend to be a weeb online and collect Japanese firearms. I have a some pretty unusual and rare and uncommon pieces in my collection, such as a couple of Type 99 long rifles or a late war Type 99 made with a previously rejected stock but the one that always eluded me was much more common, an actual all original and matching Type 99 with the monopod, dust cover and all the other 'fun' bits.
As of yesterday, that has changed. I finally found one that I like enough to make it an additional part of my budding collection. It was made by Tokyo Juki Kogyo (Tokyo Heavy Machinery Manufacturing Corporation) which was a commercial firm that was subcontracted out by Kokura arsenal. This one is completely original and matching except for the scrubbed mum. It even retains it's original sling, which has unfortunately like every other Japanese rubberized canvas equipment turned rock hard and brittle. This one is actually better than a lot of them out there.
Remember that Type 99 I said was made with a previously rejected stock? Do you know who made it? You guessed right, it was Tokyo Juki Kogyo. Just a couple years difference between those two rifles, but a lot had changed for Japan in that time frame. A lot had changed for TJK by then too, as they had stopped being a subcontractor for Kokura Arsenal and now where making rifles for Nagoya Arsenal and with that change they went from making rifles in the 37th series to making rifles in the 27th series. (Each arsenal was given block of series to make rifles in).
All in all Tokyo Juki Kogyo didn't make a whole lot during the war, roughly 96,000 in total (56,000 in series 37 and 40,000 in series 27) and only about the first 20,000 were made like mine with the monopod, AA sights, dust cover, etc. Surprisingly with so few made means that TJK rifles are uncommon, but not as uncommon as you might think as for some reason TJK rifles have a high survival rate. Must have been a lot on the top of the pile.
By the way, Tokyo Juki Kogyo is also still in business today under the name Juki and makes sewing machines.
And because I can and talking about Japanese firearms, I might as well post a couple more I own: Here's my Type 14 made in September of 1938. A very well used example, but all matching minus the magazine. I bought it from the grandson of the vet that brought it home as well as a Japanese enlisted man's dogtag and field glasses.
And last but not least, here's my used and abused Tokyo Arsenal made Type 44 that was heavily carried through China. Most of the stock finish is completely rubbed off from being carried, but it is still completely original matching and best of all, retains it's cleaning rods.
I also own a Type 38 rifle and carbine, but am too lazy to post pics, nothing too special about them.

Aech's Basement [12/8/17] - THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS

Good day Gunters--over 10,000 of you and expecting many more once that new trailer drops this weekend!--and welcome to this week's installment of Aech's Basement! Every week, we'll provide you with movies, TV shows, books, music, and games related to or featured in Ready Player One and the general Gunter aesthetic. You can track back through old posts here. If you have any suggestions for what we could feature, message us and you may see it in a future installment!
This week we're listening to THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS, the 1982-founded alt-rock band by John Flansburgh and John Linnell. During TMBG's early years, Flansburgh and Linnell frequently performed as a duo, often accompanied by a drum machine before expanding to a backing band in the 90s. TMBG have released 19 studio albums, with gold and platinum-certified awards and Grammys. Before the band launched officially, they recorded songs to their answering machines and advertised them in local papers as "Dial-A-Song," where people could call the number and listen. This method lasted until 2008 and was often overclogged from attempted callings. TMBG became known for its strange lyricism, growing further in popularity when two cartoon music videos were created by Warner Bros. Animation for Tiny Toon Adventures: "Istanbul" and "Particle Man," reflecting the high "kid appeal" resulting from their often absurd songs and poppy melodies. You also know them from the Malcolm in the Middle theme song.
TMBG tours to this day.

[Review] Sofirn SF14, AA/14500, 3-mode, tail switch

Sofirn sent me this light a fair while ago for review and I've finally got around to it. It's my first shot at a review, so any suggestions on what I can improve for next time would be great. I might make edits in order to fix any mistakes.

Overview

The Sofirn SF14 is a 3-mode AA/14500 light with an XP-G2. It's relatively compact, and goes for about $15 on Amazon. Sofirn provided this light to me free of cost in exchange for a review.

Packaging & Contents

The light comes in a cardstock box with a piece of plastic inside which holds the light in place. It's a small light, and I really can't imagine any damage coming to the light during shipping.
The box contains the light, a lanyard, a pocket clip, and a few spare O-rings.

Build Quality

The build quality of this light seems good enough, especially for the price. There were no defects in the anodizing on my sample. The threads are thick and square cut at both the head and tail of the light. There are visible tool marks on the knurled portion of the light, which bothered me at first, but in reality this will add extra grip, and the machining is impeccable on the threads and smooth parts of the light. The threads are anodized, so mechanical lockout is an option.
The light tail-stands without issue, and can easily be disassembled.

Interface

The light is controlled by a single reverse-clicky tail switch. It always starts in low. Short taps will bring you to medium, high, then back to low. Pretty straight forward. There is no mode memory, strobe, or moonlight mode. The light outputs below are crude, raw measurements from my smartphone/shoebox light meter, but they should give you an idea of the mode spacing.
Mode Claimed output Lux [14500] Lux [AA]
High 600 1900 800
Medium - 750 140
Low - 350 40
For a basic EDC light, I don't have any real complaints about the UI aside from the lack of moonlight mode.

Performance

The beam on this light is pretty neutral, with pretty significant tint shift throughout. It's not the prettiest thing ever.
The high mode on this light steps down very quickly, despite the light never getting hot to touch. With a 14500 cell, it stepped down to 20% within the first 4 minutes. The output continued to fade gradually until I killed the test at 180 minutes. There was no sign of any LVP, but I have no way of measuring the voltage on the cell when the test ended (sorry).
With an AA battery, the light still stepped down to 20% after 4 minutes. As with the 14500, the output continued to fade for the 250 minutes I ran the test.

Summary

This is light is an OK budget AA light, that is pretty comparable to the Tool AA.
+Good build and finish
+Very pocket friendly
+Tail stand
+No strobes
-Ugly beam
-Rapid step downs, even with no noticeable heat
-No moonlight mode

Ubuntu VM starting in low graphics mode, can't access the terminal or connect through SSH, but webserver and LDAP are working?

Solved!

I figured out what was wrong! I set up LDAP a few days ago (following this tutorial), and I guess I never restarted the VM, because the issue was this:
Following that tutorial, I edited these lines in /etc/nsswitch.conf:
passwd: ldap compat group: ldap compat shadow: ldap compat
Note that ldap is before compat. This wasn't the correct configuration for my setup; I had to change it to this:
passwd: compat ldap group: compat ldap shadow: compat ldap

Original post:

Hi, I've got a weird issue and I can't figure out how to fix it.
So yesterday I broke my Ubuntu 16.04 VM (it uses VMWare). Here are some screenshots of the current startup process (Note: The Login Service error only pops up occasionally. Even when it doesn't, the outcome is the same). Basically:

This is the part that I find weird. While the VM console is on that black screen:
Does anyone know how I can access the shell? I can't even begin to try fixing this right now because I can't access any form of terminal to interact with the machine.

Things I've tried:

Update 1:

After restarting the VM dozens of times (to get screenshots of the various errors and outputs I'm getting), the system automatically booted into the GRUB menu. I selected "Advanced options for Ubuntu", and then chose to boot into recovery mode. I'm currently on the Recovery Menu;

Here's where I'm currently stuck: I chose "Repair broken packages", which installed an upgrade for dnsmasq-base. I rebooted, but I'm still stuck in low graphics mode.

Update 2: I got the Xorg log

I fixed SSH through the root terminal from the recovery menu (for some reason the firewall had decided to start blocking it). Still stuck on low-graphics mode though.

Any suggestions would be extremely welcome.

Bye Week: Mid-Season Wrap Up

Given that it is bye week we here at /westcoasteagles thought we'd wrap up the season so far. So sit back, grab yourself a nice drink, some food and maybe a good ol' slice of humble pie as I take you through how the Eagles ended up at 9-3 12 rounds into the 2015 AFL Season.
Pre-season:
NAB Match 1: Eagles (78) df. Carlton (47) Rushton Park
Our first game was against Carlton down in Rushton Park where we ran out 31 point victors, a pretty comfortable win where the only real down side was the injury. I'm sure the moment where Eric 'Eazy' MacKenzie went down will be one of those 'where were you?' times. For me personally, I was looking at when the All Australian team would be chosen but alas Eazy will have to wait another year for that. Tom Lamb and Jackson Nelson both debuted with Lamb the Dyson Heppell hair-a-like the more eye catching of the two gathering only 4 possessions but they were some exciting ones. Nelson was also impressive, though in a much quieter way gathering 12 possessions. Apart from their debuts and the injuries this match was like an open training match, but boy was it good to have footy back.
Highlights
NAB Match 2: Port Adelaide (89) df. Eagles (49) Norwood Oval
Life without MacKenzie began on a sunny afternoon in Adelaide against one of the premiership contenders (at the time). To many of us this game was not about the win, it was about how well our backline held up without Eazy there making it, well, easy. It's safe to say we didn't really pass with flying colours. Ellis injured his hamstring and Wellingham injured his calf in the 40 point loss. On a positive note, Duggan made his West Coast debut coming on as the sub and Lamb continued to impress with a strong mark and goal in the first quarter and Lycett kicked 2 goals in a pretty good day out without Nic Nat accompanying him.
Highlights
NAB Match 3: Fremantle (104) df. Eagles (85) Subiaco Oval In the first derby of 2015 Nat Fyfe stared for the Dockers and they proved too strong for us in a rather ho hum affair as the last hitout of the pre-season. If anything this game was a good indication of our forthcoming second halves as the Dockers lead by 35 late in the 3rd before we slammed on 5 goals to cut the margin back to 4 points in the 4th quarter. Lamb yet again showed some great signs collecting 13 possessions and kicking a goal (I still maintain it was 2 but the ump robbed him). Rosa booted a super goal, and Jackson Nelson yet again showed why he has become a fixture in defence for us with a solid yet discreet performance in the back half. Kennedy booted 3 and LeCras kicked 2 but Freo held out.
Highlights
Onto the real games!
Round 1: Western Bulldogs (14.13 97) df. West Coast Eagles (14.3 87) Etihad
Oh boy was this a heart breaker. I think we pissed off some deity because our horror run with injury continued not even 10 minutes into the 1st game of the season. Yes I'm talking about the minute where a lot of commentators and even some supporters put a line through season 2015 and looked to 2016. When Mitch Brown went down you could just about hear Dermot Brereton and Ken Judge rubbing their hands in glee. I however like to look at this moment as when Mitch Mitts Julius Jeremy McGovern rose above the rest of the pleb defenders in the league and asserted himself as an intercept machine. In all seriousness this game was actually a cracker. Full of momentum swings and fast paced play, Hurn collected 22 possession and Priddis grabbed his usual 25+. Cripps kicked 5 goals, including a ninja mid-air kick that even Darling would be jealous of. Ultimately though the Dogs were just too tough and ran out 10 point victors leaving us 0-1 and the end of Round 1.
Highlights
Round 2: West Coast Eagles (20.11 131) df. Carlton (9.8 62) Subiaco
In our first Friday night game of the year, we reamed Carlton in a thoroughly entertaining affair for us lot and no one else really. Pre-game some pundits were even saying Carlton would win this which is why cried of Vic bias exist, I mean really, come on. Kennedy took 9 marks and kicked a monster 10.1 goals, 6 of them coming in 3rd quarter which triggered even more flat track bully (how I hate that phrase) discussion over at /AFL. Nic Nat and Lycett dominated the hit-outs 59-27. Priddis collected 31 disposals and 10 clearances, while Shuey gathered 24 touches and kicked two goals. Not much else to say about this one, it was nice night out.

Round 3, DERBY : Fremantle (17.9 111) df. West Coast Eagles (12.9 81) Subiaco
I don't have to talk about this one do I? Oh...I do?...Well shit. Rather mysteriously this game didn't actually begin till half time. Well at least that's how long it took till our boys turned up. Not even a 4th quarter fight back could save much face from this match. LeCras kicked 5 which was good I guess. I seriously hope the next derby is way better than this. Also we really shouldn't have used 'The West is Ours' this year.
Highlights
Round 4: West Coast Eagles (17.16 118) df. Brisbane Lions (9.11 65) Gabba
All told this was a pretty unremarkable match. McGovern had question marks going into this game but played. The Lions turned it over more times than I turn over in bed having nightmares of that derby. Shuey had a bit of an injury twinge but he proved to be okay and we ran out the victors......Moving on.
Highlights
Round 5: West Coast Eagles (18.12 120) df. GWS Giants (4.9 33) Subiaco
The Giants hate playing us over here and yet again we showed them why. An 81 point thumping lead by 6 goals from Kennedy and a dominant midfield was enough for no one to really sit up and notice. Yeo (25), Shuey (24), Priddis (29), Gaff (32), Masten (33) and new West Coast poster boy Liam Duggan (25) put GWS to the sword. The new look defence kept them to a measly 33 points and our forward line roared. This game is remembered for one thing over all else though. That is, Kennedy injuring his right elbow in a marking contest which led to a week long discussion about whether he would play, have surgery or completely amputate his right arm. Ultimately though he worked through it like he has done so since and the rest, as they say, is 6 goals history.
Highlights
Round 6: West Coast Eagles (11.12 78) df. Port Adelaide (10.8 68) Adelaide Oval
In hindsight this win is looking shittier by the week, thanks Port. At the time though this was an absolutely amazing win, I lost my voice screaming at the TV in the last quarter and finally people started to sit up and take notice. McGovern led an all round superb backline in holding out a rampaging Port Adelaide desperate to wrench the lead back off us in the final term. LeCras (28 1 goal), Priddis (31) and Masten (30) really showed their class, leading the team brilliantly. The only major downside to this game was our woeful efficiency inside 50, running as low as 30% in the second quarter. It didn't matter though as Shuey slotted a clutch goal in the last minute to get every Eagles fan out of their seats, and ensuring that he would never have to buy another Taylor Swift concert ticket in his life again.
Yeo and Gov Flying High
Highlights
Round 7: West Coast Eagles (21.9 135) df. Gold Coast Suns (6.7 43) Subiaco
This match is memorable for 2 reasons. A 12 goal 3rd quarter in the wet, and Elliot Yeo storming into the limelight to make commentators either say his name wrong or say it repeatedly in new and annoying ways. Yeo was phenomenal gathering a career high 29 possessions and booting 4 goals, Priddis likewise dispelled Brownlow doubters by hoarding 39 touches and 2 goals. Really though, this match only had one quarter and that was the third. 12 goals in 20 minutes of footy. 12. In the wet. If there is any moment which sums up that 20 minutes its Shuey's effort from the centre, flicking the ball into his hands and coolly slotting it from 50. What more can you say.
Kennedy's snap from the boundary
Highlights
Round 8: West Coast Eagles (20.11 131) df. Saint Kilda (12.6 78) Etihad
Duggan was robbed of a Rising Star nomination from this game. Robbed I tell you! This could be viewed as his breakout game, gathering 23 possessions, 8 inside 50s and holding the dangerous Leigh Montagna to only 1 possession in the 3rd term. The only thing he didn't do was kick a goal, but we'll forgive him that. Yeo was again in the spotlight but for the wrong reasons this time as he was hung out to dry by the MRP for a knock to Jimmy Webster which left him with a bloody nose. Kennedy broke free of Eddie Betts kicking 4 to cement his lead of the Coleman medal as the Eagles loped away an easy 53 point win after suffering a scare in the 2nd quarter as the Saints fought back.
Highlights
Round 9: West Coast Eagles (16.24 120) df. Geelong (10.4 64) Subiaco
If you were to sum up this game in one word it would have to be "frustrating". The Eagles kicked 24 behinds, yes that is correct, 24 behinds, 11 of them in the second quarter alone. We dominated in every facet of the game but Geelong kept in touch as we seemed to like behinds more than Sir Mix-a-Lot. Nic Nat did his best to keep our minds off the inaccuracy though with 36 hit-outs, 7 clearances, 17 disposals, 2 goals, oh and the mark of the year. Kennedy continued his ascension to the Coleman throne kicking 6 whilst the mids declawed the Cats with 149 contested possessions to 117, 46 clearances to 34 and 61 inside 50s to 34. The world righted itself in the last quarter as the forward line made up for their inaccuracy kicking 7 goals to make it a grand Sunday afternoon celebrating Indigenous culture.
Highlights
Round 10: North Melbourne Kangaroos (13.7 85) df. West Coast Eagles (10.15 75) Blundstone Arena
Top tip, if you are around some less savoury Eagles fans don't mention Boomer Harvey and cheeky in the same sentence. Whilst it ultimately didn't cost us the game, Boomer's less than reputable way of getting a 50m penalty out of the Maggi Maestro set tensions high, especially in the /AFL match thread. In the end it was the Eagles inability to effectively use the Fremantle Doctor on steroids in the final quarter to close out the match. North Melbourne's victory can be traced back to a 3 goal burst at the end of the third which effectively nullified any good work we had set up or the rest of the quarter. There were a couple of highlights for us in that game though, namely Duggan kicking his first ever AFL goal with a pearler in the third and Wellingham playing a monster of a game off half-back which was capped off with a 70m thunderbolt. Priddis played yet another great game, collecting 32 disposals and 4 clearances and Gaff built on a good season also gathering 32.
Highlights
Round 11: West Coast Eagles (14.12 96) df. Essendon (6.10 46) Subiaco
Nic Nat described it as an insult, but I rather like describing it as handing us the game on a silver platter. Hird's plan to not to play a recognised ruckman against Nic Nat was about as cunning as fox who had just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University. Let's just say it went poorly for the Bombers, with Nic crunching 43 hit-outs and Sinclair helping himself to 30. This ended up in the hands of the mids who promptly handed it straight over to a forward line which welcomed back the one and only Jack Darling who kicked 2 goals in his return from a stress fracture. Gaff ran wild again with another 30+ game, and LeCras let his class shine through with the first Eagles goal for the afternoon slotting a peach after dancing around a couple of defenders. He also provided the behind to make the final margin a nice 50 points which got the scarves waving around Subiaco once more.
Highlights
Round 12: West Coast Eagles (13.12 90) df. Richmond (10.10 70) MCG The phrase "biggest game" had been thrown around a lot this season but Friday night's blockbuster had all the hallmarks of our truly biggest game over the season so far. 3 games in 3 states in 13 days, McGovern with more corkies than legs, Wellingham carrying a shin injury and a woeful MCG record. Against a rampaging Richmond coming off a bye and a big purple scalp over in the Perth on a bitterly cold Melbourne night (trust me, I was there). This was our biggest test. The game itself followed a pattern, the Eagles would kick a couple of goals and then the Tigers would slowly reel them in, ending each quarter on equal terms just about. However, in the third quarter the pattern was broken with the Eagles kicking 4 goals to 2 and kept the Tigers goalless in the 4th to record a memorable win at the 'G. Nic Nat was at his electric best, mauling Ivan Maric and giving an armchair ride to the mids who reliably fed the forward line. Though by my reckoning the plaudits would have to go to McGovern who, even with injury, managed to lead the defence in shutting down the Tigers tall forward line and taking intercept after intercept mark. Schofield was also brilliant, his rebound run in the 4th quarter to set up Darling's second goal iced the game leaving us at a very pretty 9-3.
